What do HOPE meanings to you?

As you read through this article, imagine within yourself what Hope stands for!!!!
To Me; Hope is more than a figure of speech: it’s the little voice that urges us to keep going when times are tough. It’s the belief and assurance that things will get better.

I found out that Hope is the elevating feeling we experience when we see in the mind’s eye a path to a better future. Hope acknowledges the significant obstacles and deep pitfalls along that path. True hope has no room for delusion.

The Important of Being Hopeful

A sense of hope is important to our inner well-being. On the one hand, good memories and present joys lose their pleasure if we have a sense that they will soon end and not be repeated. On the other hand, we can endure present unpleasantness and difficulty if we have a sense that things will be better tomorrow. Hope lifts our spirits and motivates us.

"You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own." Michelle Obama

It’s a simple fact of life that even the best laid plans can go astray. Whatever talent or skills you may possess, hope is the state of mind that helps you navigate life’s twists and turns, and keeps you moving forward when times are tough.

It has been said that “Hope isn’t a strategy.” But, having a HOPEFUL and CONFIDENT OUTLOOK will help you enjoy a happy life and a successful career.

"I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe." Dalai Lama

Where does hope come from in the midst of this doom and gloom? Sometimes we create false hope. We tell ourselves that things are not as they could be, that we will surely be better tomorrow or that we can make things better by ourselves. False hope collapses when tomorrow is just as bad as today or when we cannot solve our own problems.

According to psychologist Charles Richard “Rick” Snyder (1944-2006), hopeful thinkers achieve more, and are physically and psychologically healthier than less hopeful people.

"Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." Joseph Addison

Snyder characterized hopeful thinkers as people who are able to establish clear goals, imagine multiple workable pathways toward those goals, and persevere, even when obstacles get in their way.
Hope is directly related to our sense of possibility. The greater our perception is about achieving possibilities, the greater our hope. The most constricted view of possibility, of course, is hopelessness or despair.

Difference between Hoping and Optimism

Hope is one of our central emotions, but we are often at a loss when asked to define it. Many of us confuse hope with optimism, a prevailing attitude that things will turn out for the best. But hope differs from optimism. Hope does not arise from being told to think positively, or from hearing an overly rosy forecast. Hope, unlike optimism, is rooted in unalloyed reality. Although there is no uniform definition of hope.

Hope is a suitable desire that is attainable in the future, and therefore because of its possibility is based on reality. So hope is a mental phenomenon such that the more it is based on reality and truth the most suitable and efficient it is.

A wish to the contrary, refers to something, which is unobtainable, and there is no hope or indication that it may happen in the future. A wish is expressed through phrases such as: “I wish it was”, “I wish something like that happens”

Therefore, human beings with far reaching wishes are forced to waste his mental energy in formulating reasons, reforming what he perceives as reality, and eliminating illogical selections of the truth. In this expression wishing is a kind of want that is unobtainable. So it might become the source of negative effects in the future and shortcomings in duties related to the present.
